As of 24 November 2020, it is now possible to obtain dual Spanish and French nationality. From that date, it is no longer necessary for Spaniards and French nationals to renounce their nationality of origin when acquiring the nationality of the other country.
The importance of this agreement lies in the fact that it is the first of its kind to be signed with a state outside the Ibero-American sphere, despite the fact that Article 11.3 of the Spanish Constitution has provided for this possibility since 1978. Ultimately, it is now possible for French nationals to acquire Spanish nationality without having to renounce their French nationality and, conversely, for Spaniards who wish to apply for French nationality.

Á partir du 24 novembre 2020, il est déjà possible d’obtenir la double nationalité espagnole et française , a partir de cette date, il n’est plus nécessaire pour les ressortissants espagnols et français de renoncer à leur nationalité d’origine lorsqu’ils acquièrent la nationalité de l’autre pays.
L’importance de cet accord réside dans le fait qu’il s’agit du premier accord de cette nature à être signé avec un État n’appartenant pas à la sphère ibéro-américaine, malgré le fait que l’article 11.3 de la Constitution espagnole recueille cette possibilité depuis 1978.
