To mark International Women’s Day, La Vanguardia hosted a panel discussion titled Feminism: Are We Moving Forward or Backward Compared to the Year 2000? bringing together experts to explore the progress and challenges of gender equality. Among the speakers was Núria Flaquer Molinas, partner and head of the Procedural Department at addwill, as well as a member of the Board of Governors of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB). She shared her perspective on the key issues still shaping the fight for gender equality today.

The discussion examined the evolution of feminism over the past 25 years, recognizing significant legal advancements while also highlighting persistent structural inequalities. Panelists discussed the lasting impact of a male-centered society and how younger generations perceive equality today.

During her remarks, Núria Flaquer pointed out that although more women are entering the legal profession and judiciary, men still overwhelmingly occupy leadership roles. She emphasized that while awareness of gender equality has grown and legal frameworks have improved, deep-rooted structural barriers remain and must be tackled.
