This year the new tax on carbon dioxide emissions from mechanical traction vehicles is introduced, a tribute that will affect individuals and legal entities who are owners of a vehicle (tourism, van or motorcycle) with tax domicile in Catalunya in 2020. And, also, legal persons without tax residence in Catalonia, but who have an establishment, branch office or office and registered vehicles in 2020.
The provisional register of the vehicles that pay the tax can be consulted in the electronic headquarters of the ATC (Tax Agency of Catalunya) from May 1, 2021.
An informative leaflet of the ATC is available to facilitate the consultation of the register to citizens, describing all the steps that must be taken to consult the register and know the amount to be paid, to make a data modification in case of any errors, and also to domicile the tax and subscribe to the electronic notifications of the ATC, which implies a 2% discount in the tax quota. The payment period begins on September 15 and for the direct debit of this first fiscal year to be effective, it must be requested before July 15, 2021.
