With the introduction of Royal Decree 893/2024, anyone employing domestic workers is now required to carry out a workplace risk assessment for the tasks performed in their home. This long-overdue measure finally acknowledges the right to health and safety at work for a group historically left out of workplace protection laws.

To make this process easier, the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) has created a dedicated tool on the free public platform Prevención10.es. This official service helps manage household workplace risks in a simple and accessible way—no technical knowledge needed.

The tool automatically generates:

  • A home-specific risk assessment report
  • The preventive measures that need to be put in place
  • Clear information for domestic staff on how to work safely and protect their health
  • A system to track and document the implementation of these measures

This resource allows employers not only to meet legal requirements, but also to inform and protect their domestic workers, helping improve working conditions in a meaningful way.

The process must be completed within six months, with a final deadline in November 2025. It’s completely free and supports a more just and dignified approach to employment.
